The biggest business author ROI survey ever

Would you like to know what creates success for business authors? I sure would.

I don’t mean some bozo blathering on about his experience publishing a book or two. I mean data. Actual data.

That’s why I’m excited to announce my participation in the largest business author survey ever created. I’ve partnered with Amplify Publishing Group, Gotham Ghostwriters, Thought Leadership Leverage, and Gray Wolf Agency to model how authors succeed (or fail). That’s a powerful set of backers.

The deal here is simple. You — an author or prospective author — spent 20 minutes or so filling out the survey here by June 21. After that, my partners and I work really hard to analyze the data, which we expect will include answers from more than 600 authors. Then we publish our results and share them with participants. We will answer some questions like:

  • What are the typical costs and revenue attributable to a non-fiction book?
  • Which actions create ROI (return on investment) for a non-fiction book author?
  • What author activities and choices are most likely to lead to success?

We’ll present the results publicly in July.

If you need a little extra incentive, participants will get:

  • A copy of the report generated by the survey (I’ll be writing this).
  • An invitation to a discussion of the findings with a Q&A with the study’s research team.
  • 5 participants will be chosen at random to receive a free hour of consulting from either me (Author of Build a Better Business Book) or Bill Sherman (COO Thought Leadership Leverage)
  • 10 participants will be chosen at random to receive a copy of my book Build a Better Business Book

We’re looking for participation from both published authors and those who are considering or working on a book. If you’re a business author or considering becoming one, please take a few minutes and tell us about your experience.

And one more thing. Please share this blog anywhere authors will see it. The more authors who answer, the smarter we all will become.
