Blackout day

Here’s what to do. It’s easy.

Walk down the street. Go to the corner store, the one that’s not part of a chain. You can drive if you want.

Buy something. Smile. Say hi. Pay cash.

Don’t shop at Amazon, Wal-Mart, Target, Whole Foods, or fast food restaurants today, in person or online. Don’t buy gas. Don’t use a credit card or debit card.

Why?

Because February 28 is economic blackout day. It’s a day to demonstrate you’re not happy with what the Trump administration and Elon Musk are doing.

You don’t have to agree with everyone else doing this on anything else. You don’t have to change your behavior permanently. It’s just one day. It’s symbolic.

The point is not to financially hurt these companies you often do business with. One day isn’t going to hurt them. They know you’ll just come back and buy tomorrow, and that’s fine.

The point is to demonstrate how many of us there are.

  1. Thanks for the EBD info, I used yr Redbubble link to help combat the Tesla/Musk dilemma noted the other day. As a Honda Insight driver from 2000, to a ’23 3 & now a ’24 Y, all I need are reasonably well paved roads & accurate road signage, both lacking in WA.
ALSO seemingly lacking in the D.C. version.
