Learning to think

Writing demands ordered thinking. Writing practice builds thinking skills.

Math demands logical thinking. Math practice builds reasoning skills.

History creates context for current events. History learning builds perspective.

Science searches for truth. Science learning builds a foundation for understanding truth.

Every day I write, reason, and build my opinions on science and historical context.

I’ve taught my children to do the same. Have you?

AI is no substitute

AI can write for you, calculate for you, find history that matches your assumptions, and surface fringe pseudoscience. Unless you use it critically, it does not training thinking. It reinforces laziness.

Students at all levels must understand how to master writing, match, history, and science, so they can understand our place in the world and think critically about the information they’re presented with.

We must teach our young people how to think and how use AI strategically, effectively, and skeptically.

Dumb, ignorant people are easy to manipulate. A nation full of them is bound for disaster.
